With her childhood roots in making mud pies that she decorated with lilac and dandelion blossoms to serve her father, Nancy Monsebroten now uses a different kind of mud to make nature inspired porcelain ceramics using a combination of wheel thrown and hand built techniques. Originally, from North Dakota, her current home and studio are located on the banks of the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, on a part of the river that is a wildlife refuge. Nancy has maintained a full time working studio since 1985.
In her free time, Nancy takes cooking classes and experiments with ethnic cuisine. She also enjoys fishing with her husband on their pontoon boat, traveling, reading or gardening. Her current line of work is a reflection of all of the amazing forms that she finds in nature, and is often given as gifts for weddings or to gardeners or nature lovers.
